About the Superintendent
The 2025-2026 school year will be the 30th year in education for William A. Brown, our new Superintendent. He began his career in the Fresno Unified School District, serving as a Football Coach and AVID tutor at Rosevelt High in the fall of 1996. By the fall of 1999, he moved to Sacramento where he coached football at Grant High School while serving as a para educator, teacher, and Outreach Consultant. By the fall of 2004, he was the Head Counselor at Norwood Junior High where he served for two years until he was assigned to Rio Linda High School to serve as a Vice Principal. In 2008, he was named Principal of Foothill High school. He served there until he was tapped to expand a charter program in North Sacramento, Smythe Academy in 2011. In 2013, he was appointed to Davis Senior High School to Serve as Principal. Four years later, in 2017, he moved to the West Contra Costa Unified School District (Richmond, CA) where he served as Director of Human Resources until 2020. In 2020, he was named Chief Human Resources Officer for the Riverbank Unified School District, just outside of Modesto, CA. This lasted 10 months until he was Appointed by the Governor to serve as Deputy Secretary of Human Resources for the State of California during the Pandemic. In 2023, he was named Superintendent of the Oroville Union High School District.
Now, he is in the Eastern Sierras, serving a community he is very excited about. His training includes three ACSA Academies; Personnel, CBO and Superintendents Academy. He earned his BA in Education from Fresno State University and his MS from National University. Over the years, he has written 2 books, hundreds of articles and has become a popular speaker and mentor for many across the State.
William is married with three daughters and three grandchildren.
“Education is my way of giving back to the many educators who have supported, encouraged and changed my life.” He hopes to deliver an uncommon experience that results in uncommon lives for everyone in the Lone Pine community.
